Dallas has a rich arts tradition, anchored by several world-class institutions, including the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Theater Center, and the soon-to-be opened Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Consequently, it’s no surprise that Dale Chihuly, critically acclaimed glass sculptor, brought his stunning collection of blown-glass to the Dallas Arboretum.
I had the opportunity to visit the exhibit last night and was stunned by the majesty of his larger-than-life glass sculptures carefully positioned across the Arboretum grounds. The elegant works are brightly colored and organically designed so that they appear almost as natural extensions of the already lush landscape. The pieces are particularly magnificent at night, as each work is individually lit against the dark sky.
The exhibit will continue to show through the end of 2012 – be sure to visit before the installation leaves the Arboretum and travels to its next destination!
