Klyde Warren: Dallas’ Deck Park

Warren ParkWe’re not short on beautiful weather in Dallas – it’s currently a sunny 64 degrees smack in the middle of December. While the Midwesterners are busy digging-out their snow-capped cars and the Northeasterners are thawing their frostbitten appendages, we are basking in the glory that is Dallas weather.

Although Dallas is a true urban center, we don’t use that as an excuse to stay indoors and instead relish in our warm weather at the Katy Trail, White Rock Lake, and, more recently, Klyde Warren Park. Klyde Warren is a 5.2-acre deck park nestled in the downtown Arts District, built atop one of Dallas’ busiest arteries – the Woodall Rogers Freeway. Klyde Warren has something for everyone, from a Reading and Games Courtyard to a Botanical Garden to a dog walk, aptly named My Best Friend’s Park.

You can find me taking in a free yoga class on the Great Lawn or grabbing a snack at one of the many food trucks stationed nearby. The park has a free Wi-Fi network, so even the busiest of worker bees can still experience the setting and, of course, the weather.
